Why We Exist

BizTech Anchor was founded in 2019 after we noticed a consistent pattern: small and medium businesses were making expensive technology mistakes that enterprise companies had solved decades ago. The difference was that enterprises had dedicated IT strategy teams, while SMBs relied on whoever happened to be "good with computers" or on vendors selling them products they did not need.

We believed there was a market for honest, independent technology advice priced for businesses that are too small for a full-time CIO but large enough that technology decisions have serious financial consequences. Five years later, we have advised nearly fifty companies across twelve states, and our client retention rate speaks to the value of our approach.

Our name reflects what we do: we anchor your technology decisions to business reality. We do not chase trends. We do not recommend solutions because they are exciting — we recommend them because they work for your specific situation, team, and budget.

Leadership Team

Marcus Chen

Managing Partner — Technology Strategy

Marcus spent fourteen years managing infrastructure and cloud operations for a Fortune 500 financial services firm before transitioning to small business advisory. He holds an AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification and has led migrations of over 10,000 user accounts to cloud environments. At BizTech Anchor, Marcus focuses on cloud migration planning, infrastructure architecture, and vendor selection engagements.

"The most expensive technology mistake I see is buying software for features you will never use. My job is to match your actual operational needs to the right tools at the right price point."

Sarah O'Brien

Managing Partner — Operations & Compliance

Sarah built her career in operations consulting for healthcare and professional services firms, with a specialization in compliance framework implementation. She holds CompTIA Security+ and HIPAA compliance certifications and has guided dozens of SMBs through security baseline implementations that satisfy both insurance underwriters and regulatory auditors. At BizTech Anchor, Sarah leads security assessments, automation mapping, and policy documentation engagements.

"Small businesses often think security is too complex or expensive for them. In reality, the fundamentals are straightforward and affordable. The hard part is knowing where to start and having the discipline to follow through."

Our Operating Principles

Absolute Independence

We do not accept referral fees, commissions, or any form of compensation from software vendors. Our recommendations are based entirely on what is best for your business. If we suggest a particular tool, it is because we believe it fits your needs — not because we have a financial arrangement with the provider.

Strategy Before Investment

We will not help you buy technology until we understand your business operations, constraints, and goals. Every recommendation ties back to a measurable outcome. If we cannot articulate exactly how a tool will improve your business, we will not recommend it.

Practical Upskilling

We document everything we recommend in language your team can understand and maintain. Our goal is not to make you dependent on us — it is to leave your team more capable than when we arrived. We succeed when you no longer need us for the problems we solved.
